"LOFKOTO" Episode 7: OTSUKIMI (Moon-Viewing) Goods

In the spring of 2022, as all things begin to sprout.
LOFT, in collaboration with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)-themed promotional magazine *SOTOKOTO*, officially launched the "LOFKOTO Zakka Store" project. Through a free, serialized magazine of the same name, the two partners focus on the themes of sustainable development and regional revitalization, carefully selecting high-quality products from across Japan for each season and sharing them with the public through limited-time promotional events.
The theme for the 7th edition of the "LOFKOTO Zakka Store" series, "OTSUKIMI (Moon Viewing、달구경)," will kick off on Tuesday, September 1, at SHIBUYA LOFT and GINZA LOFT, as well as on the LOFT NETSTORE, for a themed event lasting over a month!
In Japan, the tradition of "moon viewing," admiring the full moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival, has been passed down since the Heian period and continues to this day.
Whether it's savoring soft, sweet moon-viewing dumplings, sipping a few cups of moon-viewing sake under the full moon, or enjoying moon-viewing rice, in which the egg yolk is likened to the full moon, these elegant customs have long been deeply rooted in modern culinary culture.
This special project focuses on the Mid-Autumn Festival's "Fifteenth Night" on September 25 (Friday), when the full moon is at its most beautiful, and the "Thirteenth Night" on October 23 (Friday), known as the "Second Most Beautiful Moon." We've curated a selection of moon-themed treats, alcoholic beverages, and condiments from various categories, as well as moon-themed home goods and unique calendar-related items, presenting you with a curated selection of products designed to immerse you in the joy of moon-viewing.
